We’ll perform a thorough evaluation to make sure we fully understand your condition and can proceed with a plan of treatment.
To evaluate your current condition, your fitness for surgery, and your preparedness for all aspects of liver transplantation, our team will conduct a comprehensive evaluation, which typically includes:
- Blood tests:
- Blood type
- Tests for viruses, autoimmune antibodies, and tumor markers
- Liver enzyme tests
- Liver function tests
- Imaging studies:
- CT scan
- Urinalysis with culture screen
- Cardiology tests:
- Electrocardiogram (EKG)
- Stress test
- Carotid artery ultrasound
- Pulmonary (lung) function test
Your Social Worker will also conduct a psychosocial evaluation to ensure that you and your family are emotionally prepared for the stress that often accompanies the transplant process.
