Patient Surgery Guide - Tamoxifen

There is evidence of an increased incidence of thromboembolic events, including deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, during TAMOXIFEN therapy. For this reason, you are instructed to stop taking TAMOXIFEN three weeks before surgery. You need to make sure that your oncologist or the physician that prescribes TAMOXIFEN is aware that you will be stopping the medication. You may resume taking it one week after the surgery.
