Peter Howard Jones, MD, is an associate professor in the Department of Medicine, Section of Atherosclerosis and Lipid Research at the Baylor College of Medicine. He also serves as Co-Director of The Center for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention, and as the Medical Director for The Methodist Wellness Services Weight Management Programs.
Dr. Jones received his BS in chemistry in 1974 at Washington and Lee University; he was a summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa student. He completed his MD at the Baylor College of Medicine in 1977 as the Michael E. DeBakey Scholar. He completed his internal medicine residency at Baylor, and is board certified in internal medicine. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a Fellow of the Council on Arteriosclerosis and Thrombosis of the American Heart Association.
He has served in a number of academic, scientific and community committees and has published more than 70 clinical abstracts, articles, and chapters in textbooks.
An accomplished speaker, Dr. Jones has made presentations at national and international symposia on topics that include drug therapy for dyslipidemias, new frontiers in lipid drug therapy, and diabetic dyslipidemia and coronary heart disease.
