Emily Herrmann Chair in Cancer Research

Emily Herrmann touched the lives of many with her warm and caring spirit. A 30-year employee of Walter Oil & Gas Corporation, Emily endured a brave 10-year battle with cancer, but ultimately succumbed to the disease in fall 2007.

To honor Emily’s memory, Paula and Rusty Walter, Carole and Jim Looke, and Ann and Billy Harrison announced a matching gift challenge to create the Emily Herrmann Chair in Cancer Research at Houston Methodist. The Emily Herrmann Chair in Cancer Research will:

  • Recognize a distinguished cancer researcher
  • Support the latest in medical education through visiting lectureships
  • Provide seed funds for innovative research projects
  • Further strengthen the momentum toward discovering new medications, treatments and ultimately a cure for cancer

The Walters, Lookes and Harrisons generously pledge to match any gifts, dollar-for-dollar up to $500,000 in support of the chair. With your help, Houston Methodist can raise $1,000,000 in support of this unprecedented opportunity for growth, innovation and discovery. We invite you to make your gift this giving season.
