Biography

After receiving his doctoral degree in epidemiology from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1993, Dr. Graviss joined the VA Medical Center in Houston as an infectious disease epidemiologist, a position he still holds. He became a research instructor of medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in 1994, and was later promoted to dual associate professorships there in the departments of pathology, and medicine, section of infectious diseases. Dr. Graviss joined the Center for Molecular and Translational Human Infectious Diseases Research at The Methodist Hospital Research Institute in 2008.

Description of Research

Dr. Graviss has extensive expertise in the study of the epidemiology and population-based surveillance of a variety of infectious agents including Mycobacterium tuberculosis. His recent studies focus on evaluation of the new Interferon Gamma Release Assays (IGRAs) in the diagnosis of latent tuberculosis infection.

Major Areas of Research

Infectious agents, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, latent tuberculosis
