Dr. Davis received his Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Houston in 1965, and completed his postdoctoral training there as well. He then joined the faculty at The University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston as an assistant professor of microbiology. In 1968, Dr. Davis received the same appointment at the Baylor College of Medicine. He became an associate professor there in 1973, and held that appointment until he assumed his current positions at Houston Methodist in 2004.
Dr. Davis oversees the daily operations of the department's clinical service laboratories. Research and development activities under Dr. Davis have focused on reducing the turn-around time required to provide clinically useful information without compromising accuracy and reproducibility.
