The Clinical Career Progression model serves to promote and reward outstanding contributions to patient care and the advancement of professional nursing within Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. By defining performance standards at four levels of nursing practice, the progression model provides a structure of advancement of nurses while enabling them to remain at the bedside. Additionally the career path serves to recognize, retain and compensate expert nursing staff.
At Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital all RN’s are required to create and maintain a professional portfolio that will be an essential part of the individuals performance development, evaluation, and career development process. The portfolio will serve as a significant portion of the nurse’s self evaluation. The portfolio will be used to document and maintain both initial and ongoing requirements for meeting RN Clinical Path eligibility on an annual basis.
Houston Methodist Willowbrook recognizes several levels of nursing professionalism: RN I, RN II (Mentors), RN III (Clinical Leaders) & RN IV (Clinical Experts).
