The Collaborative Cerebral Blood Flow Clinical Lab serves patients with a variety of neurological disorders, including stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA). Physicians perform TCD with bubble by injecting agitated normal saline(not contrast) to detect PFO(patent foramen ovale) in heart.
TCD measures blood velocity in the head and neck, which aids in the management of stroke and is useful for risk assessment in a variety of cerebrovascular and neurologic diseases. The Carotid Ultrasound (C/U) is an ultrasound that shows whether plaque has narrowed your carotid arteries. Plaque can slow down or block the flow of blood through the artery. A standard carotid ultrasound shows the structure of your carotid arteries.
