Description of Research

The goal of Dr. Gupte's research is to define the mechanisms underlying the development of liver complications in diabetes. Specifically, she investigates the role of nuclear receptors PPARgamma, PPARdelta and TR beta in non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. Dr. Gupte is also interested in understanding the relationship between estrogen signaling and insulin resistance. One of her areas of expertise is development and standardization of mitochondrial function assessment tools.
