Andrea McNiel, M.S., PA-C, is a Physician Assistant (PA-C) at the Methodist Hospital, Department of Surgery. She specializes in thoracic surgery and thoracic surgical oncology. Andrea practices in the Thoracic surgery clinic where she sees and manages patients with a variety of thoracic diseases. She has a surveillance clinic where patients that have completed their cancer treatments can be followed for recurrence. She rounds on patients in the hospital and helps to facilitate multidisciplinary management of patients. She assists in the operating room and helps perform routine bedside surgical procedures such as chest tube placement and removal, central line insertion and removal, suturing, incision and drainage of abscess, and management of complex wounds including wound vac insertion and removal. She participates in active clinical trials in the Thoracic Surgery Department, and attends the Multidisciplinary Thoracic Tumor Board.
Andrea completed a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Baylor College of Medicine in 2004. She received her Bachelor’s of Science degree from Boise State University in 2002. She also serves on the CME committee board for the Association of Physician Assistants in Cardiovascular Surgery (APACVS), and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA).
