Dexter Turnquest, MD, FACS is a board certified general and bariatric surgeon who has practiced in the Northwest Houston area for more than 20 years. Dr. Turnquest is known for his dedication to his patients and excellent surgical skills. Repeatedly honored and featured in Texas Monthly's annual "Super Doctors" issue, H Magazine's "Top Doctors in Houston" publication, Health & Fitness magazine and Newsweek magazine. Dr. Turnquest is trusted in the medical community and by media outlets.
He is currently the Bariatric Medical Director at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. The program has been certified as a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation and is one of the very few programs named a Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery in Texas. He is past President of the North Branch of the Harris County Medical Society and has served on the board of the Harris County Medical Society and the Houston Academy of Medicine. Dr. Turnquest is actively involved with The Texas Medical Association and serves on the Trauma and EMS committee.

Todd A. Worley, MD, FACS is a fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, with specific training in robotic and laparoscopic surgery. He is board-certified and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Worley completed his bariatric surgery fellowship in the Texas Medical Center here in Houston and has been practicing at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital since. He has been an integral part in the bariatric program attaining Center of Excellence status, and he is designated as a Center of Excellence surgeon by the Surgical Review Corporation for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Worley was voted “Best Bariatric Surgeon” in Living Magazine for the Champions and Spring Area in 2013, and has been named as part of the “Texas Super Doctors Rising Stars” list in Texas Monthly from 2012 to 2014.

Dr. Worley’s approach to medicine is to provide the highest standards in technologically advanced surgical care, along with down-to-earth and comprehensive patient care. His view of compassionate care means walking with patients through the entire surgery process and devoting as much time to each person as he or she needs.

Sharla Stroup, RN-CNOR, CBN

Sharla Stroup, RN-CNOR, CBN is certified as an operating room and bariatric nurse. With more than 12 years of health care experience, her surgical background includes cardiovascular, general surgery, orthopedic and a specific focus in bariatric and metabolic surgery.

In her current role, Sharla serves as an advocate for bariatric patients through the continuum of care. She educates patients during their pre-op visit, reviews documentation and is attentive to any medical conditions that could impact the surgical procedure.

While patients are in surgery, Sharla assists the operating room (OR) team with various procedures. During the in-patient stay, she oversees components of quality indicators and hospital protocols to ensure patient’s safety and comfort. Prior to patients being discharged, Sharla visits with patients and their family members to discuss necessary life style modifications patients need to implement to ensure a healthy future. She provides compassionate care by supporting patients throughout their surgical journey.

Sharla is the current president and an active board member of TABS (Texas Association for Bariatric Surgery) and an active participant and member of ASMBS (American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery).
