Message from the Program Director

We at Houston Methodist Sugar Land are excited to offer a 12 month fellowship training program in Primary Care Sports Medicine (PCSM). After several years away from running a fellowship program, I am happy to get back in the game!

The fellowship was accredited in January 2013 and our 1st fellow will be graduating this summer (2014). In combination with the Houston Methodist Willowbrook PCSM fellowship, we are the only family medicine-based PCSM fellowship program in Houston, and certainly the largest PCSM fellowship program (together) in Texas.

Our fellowship has access to primary care and sports-trained orthopedic surgeon faculty members. In addition, there are opportunities to interact with other sports medicine physicians within the system. Please look over the website to see the many experiences available during the year, including professional soccer, professional rodeo, NCAA Division I (Rice University), IronMan and marathon events, to name a few.

Our program is clinically based, and fellows will not lack for an exposure to a multitude of orthopedic and medical problems in the sports medicine environment, whether in the clinic, the OR, training room or the field of play.

For research, I am a strong believer in fostering independent thinking and request that you, as a candidate, formulate your own idea prior to coming on board. If it is feasible, then we will make it happen.

Please review our fellowship website at your leisure, and don’t hesitate to call or email for more information.
