COVID-19 ROTATING STUDENT UPDATE

Effective June 1, most* clinical rotations to Houston Methodist hospitals and associated facilities have resumed. All rotation requests must be submitted through MERLIN and all COVID guidelines must be followed prior to obtaining a badge to begin your scheduled and approved rotation.

As you are all aware, this is a very fluid situation and one we take very seriously. At no time is it our intent to put any of our students, trainees, staff, physicians or most importantly our patients at risk. Therefore, we will continue to update this page with new information, as it becomes available.

We are honored that you have chosen Houston Methodist to continue your education training and look forward to working with you throughout the credentialing process.

For more than 80 years, our name has been synonymous with quality care and excellence. If selected, you will engage with America's best physicians, nurses and professionals. Houston Methodist is a place where your compassion gives comfort, your talent drives innovation and your care makes a difference.

Prior to beginning your training at Houston Methodist, there is an onboarding process that must be followed and completed. The information you will find below will help to ensure that all required documents, background screens and program-specific requirements have been completed at least four weeks prior to your arrival thus reducing the processing time on the first day of your scheduled orientation.

YOU MAY NOT BEGIN YOUR TRAINING UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF APPROVAL AND ISSUED A CURRENT BADGE. This application is not considered complete until all information and documentation is received and verified.

*In alignment with the Coalition of Physician Accountability’s recommendations, Houston Methodist has suspended all requests for medical student rotations for the 2020-21 academic year. We will update this page, should changes occur within this timeframe.  If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
